Life Art Society and SMRT jointly organise 2019 ‘HuiChun’ Marathon to usher in the year of the Pig.
To promote Chinese traditional culture and usher in the year of the Pig, Life Art Society was invited by SMRT to jointly organise a “HuiChun” Marathon for 2 occasion, 26 Jan 2019 and 16 Feb 2019 to create art works for the public free of charge at the following location:
SMRT ‘HuiChun’ Marathon Event 1
Location : Esplanade Xchange (Esplanade MRT, near exit G)
Date : 26 Jan 2019 (Saturday)
Time : 11am to 3pm
SMRT HuiChun’ Marathon Event 2
Location : Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange
Date : 16 Feb 2019 (Saturday)
Time : 8am to 12pm
Life Art Society President, Professor Tan Khim Ser lead the team of 18 artists to participate in the SMRT ‘HuiChun’ Marathon to create art works for the public free of charge. These 18 artists are Alan Tan Jwee Meng, Benny Khong Kum Meng, Dr Maurice Chan Kok Leong, Lee Wah Fong, Gladys Shan Qiu Ping, Jowena Liang, Lee Woon Yong, Shirley Tang, Tan Boon Kuan, Du Feng, Mohan L. S. Ram, Quek Chay Hoon, Shirley Bok Sia Leng, Wei Hang Ying, Mun Sook Yee, Yeo Kwee Hua, Lena Lim, Yang Shwn Fen.
Art works comprise of Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese paintings of peony, plum blossoms, bamboos, chrysanthemums, goldfish, carps, lotus and various kind of auspicious pigs.
Opening ceremony of SMRT and Life Art Society 2019 ‘HuiChun’ Marathon Event1
Crowd started to form at Esplanade MRT station Exit G as public queue up for free Calligraphy and Chinese paintings on 26 Jan 2019.
During the opening ceremony, SMRT Chairman Seah Moon Meng perform Calligraphy 《顺》(signify smooth or favourable) and Life Art Society President Professor Tan Khim Ser added with the painting of bamboo (signify safety) on the same canvass wishing Singapore a favourable condition and safe environment. With Professor Tan’s spontaneously wield his brush to write the word 《福》to convey his blessing and good wishes for Singapore to commence the 4 hours ‘HuiChun’ Marathon.
Professor Tan hope with the ‘HuiChun’ Marathon event to spread some New Year cheers, at the same time to promote the understanding and appreciation of art.
In anticipation of the crowd, Life Art Society President, Professor Tan Khim Ser lead the team of 18 artists to participate in the SMRT ‘HuiChun’ Marathon to create art works for the public free of charge.
Public were excited to have the opportunity to see artists performing on the spot and waited patiently to receive the Calligraphy and Chinese paintings. Queue continue to form even after the event ended.

为应付人潮，更生美术研究会特派了18名书画家以马拉松形式为

到场的公众兴奋的排队索取字画，
至到挥春活动结束，人潮依然不断，久久不愿离去。
