River HongBao 2019 ‘HuiChun’ Marathon to celebrate Singapore 200 years of history To welcome the year of the Pig and the celebration of 200 years of Singapore history, Life Art Society organised a “HuiChun” Marathon to commemorate the nation’s bicentennial milestone. The event was held at The Float@Marina Bay (20 Raffles Avenue, Singapore 039805) from 3 to 10 Feb 2019, 6.30pm to 9.30pm (4 Feb 2019 8pm to 11pm). Life Art Society President, Professor Tan Khim Ser officiate the opening ceremony of ‘HuiChun’ Marathon to usher in the year of the Pig on 3 Feb 2018 at 6.30pm and at the same time conduct lucky draw. The first 200 audience at the opening ceremony have opportunity to participate in the lucky draw. Life Art Society have prepared 8 beautiful art works as lucky draw prizes, these art works are created by the experienced and talented Life Art Society artists. These 8 artists are Professor Tan Khim Ser, Benny Khong Kum Meng, Dr Maurice Chan Kok Leong, Alan Tan Jwee Meng, Gladys Shan Qiu Ping, Ng See Pein, Tan Boon Kuan and Lee Wah Fong. Professor Tan lead the team of 34 Life Art Society artists (strongest and largest team ever) during the opening ceremony of “HuiChun” Marathon to create art works for the public free of charge. During the opening ceremony, Professor Tan Khim Ser perform calligraphy 《前程万里》(meaning outstanding future prospects) and painted plum blossoms and bamboo, signifying happiness, safety and harmony to celebrate Singapore 200 years of history. During the interview, Professor Tan Khim Ser expressed that ‘HuiChun’ is a popular Chinese customs to have spring couplets and auspicious paintings at home for good luck, prosperity, happiness and harmony. Professor Tan hope through this ‘HuiChun’ marathon to allow Singaporean more opportunities to learn about Chinese tradition and help to promote the Chinese culture. The opening ceremony attracted large group of audience and visitors were impressed with Professor Tan’s performance of calligraphy and painting. To cater to the crowd, Professor Tan will lead the team of 34 Life Art Society artists to create art works for the public free of charge. Art works will comprise of Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese paintings of peony, plum blossoms, bamboos, chrysanthemums, goldfish, carps, lotus and various kind of auspicious pigs.
